A Bit About Louis' Models

Welcome! My name is Connor (Louis) Ferreira, and I founded Louis model in 2018 at 21 years old. I'm Located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

What started out as a hobby has now become my passion and I'm thrilled to share it with you. I build all kinds of models, but sci fi is where my true passion lies. From Star Trek to Star Wars, 1:6 - 1:5000 scale and everything in-between, with "Battle-damage" being my favourite modeling medium. Through adapting screen captures from famous movie/TV scenes, to freehand manipulation of a kit, there are next to no limits as to what I can do with a kit (short of making it actually fly). You name it, I build it.

Customizing a space ship to look "damaged", whether its light or heavy, is a sight to see, and at my studio...I deliver. That being said, a pristine "fresh out of spacedock" look is something that I'm no stranger to.

I started off as any model builder does, on a table at home. I built models as a kid, painted them horribly, hung them from the celling, and I even attempted re-creating battle damage on a few ships...this included setting them on fire and blowing the fire out before the house burnt down. In my teen years I stopped but came back full force in my early 20's.

My first "Proper" kit as I would say, was a Monogram Voyager kit that I fully lit up. It had all the windows cleanly drilled and shaved out, a clean paint job, no light leaks, and a power adapter. I used a custom basic lighting kit from Germany and found the instructions inciteful for not only the Voyager build, but I also found it helpful for future builds. Essentially my model building career has been built on that kit, and I look forward to building another one some day just to see how far I've come.

My love for building models drives who I am and what I do. Every. Single. Day.

I hope you enjoy checking out my builds as I work on them, periodically posting updates in the "builds" page.

Mask Design is a Canadian based company that ships worldwide. Gary Chomiak has developed a fantastic (and continually updating) selection of paint masks for scale sci-fi models. It is my opinion that Gary has created the best, most detailed, screen accurate, and durable masking sets on the market. His company provides masking sets for even the newest of kit releases such as the 1:1000 scale Enterprise recently released by Polar Lights, unmatched in its screen accuracy by any competitor

Scalectronics is a UK based company created for one purpose....to provide you with the most versatile lighting kit available. The kit speaks for itself as its capabilities are only as limited as the imagination of the person using it. By far, the most advanced lighting kit on the market capable of custom lights, sounds, customizable "scenes" and more. This kit is unique with its use of RGB and RGBW LED's. This allows for control over every single LED at any given time. Scalectronics ships internationally

Wheels and Wings is a Canadian based hobby shop located in Toronto, Ontario. They specialize in plastic model kits for planes & vehicles, plus paint & accessories. I get most of my equipment and accessories from W&W, and 99% of the time they can get what they don't already have in stock.

They have reliable and knowledgeable staff that are kind and always there to help with your hobby needs, whether you need wheels, or a pair of wings. The best hobby shop in the GTA...dare I say...Canada

Located in Whitby, Ontario is Daily Hobbies. It may look like a small store on the outside but its just as big as any other hobby store. Dailey Hobbies has a wide range of product and always seems to have exactly what I need...when I need it. During the summer, they host a fantastic "trunk sale", where customers can come and sell their kits out of their trunks. They have a friendly and personable staff that are always ready to help with your daily hobby needs (pun intended). Much like W&W, they have an extensive collection of photoetch which is crucial to almost every build I do here at Louis' Models.
